Dear friends,

Last Sunday, Pastor Ginger invited her friend and Foundry member Michael Hill to share with the congregation why he was drawn to Foundry. With only a few minutes to prepare, Michael beautifully described the joy of being part of this community.

“This is the first time my husband Peter and I have been back to Foundry [since the pandemic began] … so it’s a little overwhelming to be back in the Sanctuary,” Michael began.

“Foundry was our third date, so we lay claim to this space as part of our own journey. We both come from different faith traditions. What drew us here is a deep desire and longing to see our faith put to action and put to good use in the world. This was the one place we found that was home for both of us,” he said.

“We both give thanks to God for the servant leaders that made sure that Foundry’s presence continued out in the world at a time when it needed it most. I think we proved, that while we love the Sanctuary, Foundry is the people, not a place. We’ve been without a place for a long time, but Foundry was still alive and well.”

Earlier in the day, Foundry member Clyneice Chaney shared how she and her sister, Clareice came to Foundry 17 years ago, looking for a place where they could help their teens become caring members of society. They were in search of “a place where, after Sunday worship, God’s work in the world and in the community was actively seen [and] where everyone was welcomed as a child of God.”

“All of our wishes for a church family have been realized — even things we didn't know to ask for,” Clyneice said.

We are so grateful for such powerful witnesses from beloved members of our community.

For several weeks now, we’ve been sharing the many ways that people have seen God’s work being carried out in the missions and ministries of Foundry Church. They’ve talked about why they have supported Foundry with their service and their financial support.

We would love to hear and share your story too.

We invite you to consider your own reasons for supporting Foundry and then to fill out an estimate of giving for the upcoming year online

Then, if you’d like to share your story with the congregation, just reply to this email with that story. We’ll collect people’s stories and include them in a future email message.

Stewardship Sunday — the formal culmination of the stewardship campaign — is less than three weeks away, so please make sure to submit your estimates of giving soon.

And thank you, again, for all that you already do to support the vital missions and ministries of Foundry.

In Christ,

Dan Vock and Lorea Stallard

P.S. Pastor Ben Roberts will give a presentation after the 11:15 service this Sunday (Nov. 7) in the Sanctuary and online about the importance of financial stewardship in supporting Foundry’s Social Justice Ministries for the coming year.

P.P.S. If you missed the presentation that Stanley Thurston, director of music, gave last Sunday about the ways financial support helps our music ministries, you can see a recording of Stanley's event here.
